Thank you. This makes sense. We have all experienced the depression from a devastating election loss. The world seems to be ending - especially to young people whose candidate lost. It's not a good look to mock people in the throes of that depression. But your proposal is good for all times, not just after an election. Leading politicians such as the current President, joined by much of the media, for years have wrongfully labeled half of the population as Nazis, racists, white supremacists, Uncle Toms, deplorables, white-adjacent racists/collaborators, etc. Using those terms cynically and inaccurately for political advantage is devastating to our culture. It is asking a lot for the victims of this abuse to show instant grace after the election. It is inevitable that some of those 170 million or so Americans are going to revel in the ouster of their persecutors - probably in ways that will not help to heal the rift. You are right - they should tone it down, take a higher road. Is Trump himself capable of this? Not optimistic, but we'll see. Are mainstream media capable of changing their tone? We'll see. Meanwhile, here's hoping your ideas get some traction.

It was not so much the "grief" we witnessed after Hillary's defeat, as it was the fury and vitriol hurled at the winner. And the next 4 years of outright hatred, cabals, lies, empty accusations, etc al., directed not just at Trump but every one of his supporters. It continued endlessly, even after he lost to Biden. The efforts to destroy him and anyone who agreed with him, from school moms to small businesses, color blindness to patriotism, trying to destroy our culture, were the victor's show of grace.

The double standard, one sided appeals to better natures, grace, compassion, and understanding fall on ears deafened by 10 years of shouted screeds. At least wait until the echoes fade before pointing fingers once again, huh?
